The curves (plus size) lingerie market now accounts for 20% of overall sales and represents a growing opportunity for online retailers.
Many of our manufacturers produce their ranges right up to size 20 plus yet ask us to photograph them on size 10/12 models.
Recently I suggested to one of my clients Sulis Silks, producers of stunning handmade pure silk luxury lingerie and nightwear, we shoot specific selected items on a size 16 model.
My thoughts being:
Seeing how beautiful the pieces look being modelled by a curvier girl should drive more sales.
Certain styles lend themselves to being produced in plus sizes more than others so a dedicated curves range should increase customer satisfaction, assist style selection and reduce returns.
Now the lady who runs this company, Fiona Falkner doesn’t do things by half and proceeded to design and produce a completely fresh bespoke curve inspired range.
To help this along I put Fiona in touch with lovely Maddie Havalle an absolutely lovely plus size model actress and presenter who is currently working with the Sulis team to perfect the collection and when done will be modelling it for a spring catalogue shoot.
